Hinamatsuri, or Girls' Day, is a Japanese tradition that is celebrated in March. During the celebration, families display ornamental dolls called hina ningyo on tiered platforms—as can be viewed in our beautiful display cases within the Yamagata Kaikan. For this reason, Hinamatsura may also be referenced as Dolls’ Day. It is believed that hina ningo dolls ward off evil and misfortune. On this day, girls are wished a lifetime of health, happiness, and prosperity. Our luncheon will include a floral arrangement presentation by Ikebana International Fort Worth Chapter #38. During the celebration, indulge in delicious Japanese foods: chirashizushi (scattered sushi), suimono (clear soup with veggies), and pink mochi (rice dough) ice cream.
