Okonomiyaki and Speaker with FW Sister Cities
Come join us for a demonstration on how to make various types of Japanese okonomiyaki and then enjoy cooking one at your table.
We will also have a guest speaker, Mr Eiji Sakayama, with sister cities to talk about his discoveries.

Spring Festival at the Japanese Gardens
Come see us again at the Japanese Spring Festival in the Japanese Gardens April 22nd and 23rd!
If you would like to do more than enjoy the festivities, volunteer for one of our many sections and get in for free!
Volunteer Form -> All shifts are 2hrs long and you can sign up for different sections or stay at one all day. No matter what day/time slot you select, you will have free access to the gardens the entire day. Please check time slots carefully, there are specific sections that only run during a particular time. After submission, about one week before the festival (or when the gardens gives us the permits), you will receive a parking permit, map of the gardens, volunteer time chart and other instructions. Hinamatsuri - Girls Day
Celebrate Girls Day with us. We will have many activities for the kids and adults alike.
Our menu will consist of gomokoshirashi and suimono.
Bingo!
Come join us for some fun with bingo and great food! We will be having gyudon, miso soup, and we can’t forget the valentines’ chocolates! After eating, we’ll enjoy a relaxing (and competitive) time playing bingo with prizes.
Anime Watch Party
Registration is now open for our first-ever Youth Movie Night!
On Friday, February 8, 2024, kids and teens aged 10-17 are invited to join us to watch Howl's Moving Castle together. Registration is just $10/person. Food will be provided.
Drop-off opens at 6pm and we plan to start the movie around 6:30. …

Oshogatsu - Members New Years Party
Come join us for our annual Oshogatsu party. It will be a pot luck so be sure to bring your favorite dish that will feed at least 15-20 people. There will be a raffle and the grand prize will be a $250 gift certificate as long as other great prizes.

FW Suzuki School Music Demonstration
We will be entertained by the Fort Worth Suzuki School while we enjoy Tempera Udon, Kakiage, and Yakiimo (roasted sweet potatoes). Last year, about 20 students came with their various musical instruments and their talent to envelop us in fine music.
North Texas Giving Day
September is officially NTX Giving Day season but you can still donate at any time. Last year, the generosity of our community helped raise a record breaking $66 million in support of North Texas nonprofits! Every year, this event helps more than 3,300 nonprofits continue their work to make our community a healthier, happier, and safer place to live and thrive.

Keiro no Hi
We will celebrate “Keiro no Hi”Hi”(Respect the Elderly Day) which will be observed in Japan this year on Sept 18 th. The elderly members of our Society have contributed in many ways over the years since our founding in 1985 so we certainly want to recognize and thank them Traditionally, obento is served on this day, so our Wakabakai group (ladies group) will prepare the obento to this luncheon.
Tanabata - Izakaya Foods
For this luncheon, we will celebrate Tanabata, the Japanese Star Festival. We will bring back our “Izakaya” style food booths serving okonomiyaki, yakisoba, yakitori, takoyaki, and red bean popsicles.
Movie Luncheon - Jiro Dreams of Sushi
For June, we will enjoy a relaxing luncheon. Our program for the day will be watching the movie Jiro Dreams of Sushi, while eating sushi!
Tango no Sekku - Boys' Day
Tango no Sekku (端午の節句), or Boys Day is celebrated in early May, but considering everyone’s busy schedule, we will observe this day on Sunday, May 21st. We will have various activities related to Boys Day such as demonstrating origami, walking on stilts and fashioning koi. We will also enjoy a seasonal obento.

Setsubun and Oden
Come celebrate the Setsubun Festival and learn about oden and takigomi gohan.
Oden is a style of japanese hot pot typically consisting of several ingredients such as boiled eggs, daikon, konjac, and processed fishcakes stewed in a light, soy-flavored dashi broth.
Takigomi gohan is japanese mixed rice with seasonal ingredients.
Setsubun Festival, or the bean-throwing festival, celebrates the beginning of spring by ridding evil spirits that bring sickness and prevent good fortune.

Our most heavily attended luncheon each year is our Oshogatsu luncheon.
This is probably because it is potluck and everyone brings in their favorite dish.
If that’s not the reason, it’s because of our prized filled raffle where nearly everyone goes home with a prize! There is no charge for this luncheon – except your potluck contribution.
Dishes do not need to be Japanese, all food is welcome.

North Texas Giving Day
Each year, our Society participates in the North Texas Giving Day for two reasons. First, this is an opportunity to ask you to contribute a little bit more to support our programs, and second, because the NTGD organization gives us additional funds based on the funds we generate from our membership - making your dollar going a little bit further.
Donations start Sept 1 and end Sept 22, 2022.
Keiro no Hi
Keiro no Hi is a day to honor older adults, to express appreciation and gratitude for their contribution to society, and to celebrate their longevity and vitality.
Food will be obento and there will be an obento contests.
