September 19th is North Texas Giving Day. On this day, North Texans band together to help support the non-profit organizations of their choice. You can also donate at any time before that date as well.

Based on what we are able to raise, the North Texas Community Foundation also contributes additional funds so that your contribution will go even further to help us.

Since 1984, the Fort Worth Japanese Society has successfully executed our mission to bring the Japanese and American peoples together by enhancing our understanding of each other - which promotes friendship and peace.

Please help us to continue our mission through our cultural demonstrations, Fort Worth Japanese Garden festivals, our language classes and many other activities by clicking this link:  https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/organization/FortWorthJapaneseSociety

This year the Yamagata Foundation will be graciously matching each amount donated during the North Texas Giving Day Event!

Our Mission

私たちの使命

To foster understanding between Japanese and Americans by providing an opportunity to learn about Japan, its people, language, and culture.

Our History

フォートワース日本人会

Since its founding in 1985 the FWJS has a diverse membership of more than 300 members, including Japanese ex-patriots, Japanese-Americans, and Americans who are interested in Japan.

In 1985, the City of Fort Worth passed a mission to introduce its citizens to the culture and habits of countries around the world. They decided to begin with Japan by working with the City of Dallas in the Sun and Star Festival. Fort Worth Mayor Bob Bolen asked Elaine Yamagata if she would work with a special committee that collaborated with local cultural groups, companies, and schools to plan an event introducing Japanese culture.

FWJS Programs

The Society maintains a close relationship with and acts as a liaison with the Japanese Consulate for the benefit of our members. We are continually on the lookout for projects which will improve Japanese-American relations.

North Texas Giving Day

September is officially NTX Giving Day season but you can still donate at any time. Last year, the generosity of our community helped raise a record breaking $66 million in support of North Texas nonprofits! Every year, this event helps more than 3,300 nonprofits continue their work to make our community a healthier, happier, and safer place to live and thrive.

Please go to the link below to donate to the Fort Worth Japanese Society – and have your donation go further with the additional sums that are added from the group that administers NTGD.

Other Activities

It's not unusual to find one of our members at city hall interpreting for visiting Japanese dignitaries.
