Last year, the generosity of the North Texas community helped raise a record breaking $70 million in support of North Texas nonprofits! Every year, this event helps more than 3,300 nonprofits continue their work to make our community a healthier, happier, and safer place to live and thrive.

North Texas Giving Day (NTGD) is officially 9/18/25, but you don’t have to wait until then to begin donating. Last year, we were able to raise several thousands of dollars which was enhanced by additional sums from the group that administers NTGD.

Please go to the link below to donate to the Fort Worth Japanese Society – and have your donation go further with the additional sums that are added from the group that administers NTGD.

The Fort Worth Japanese Society continues its support at the biannual Fort Worth Japanese Garden Festival, where we will provide Japanese events and foods again this fall!

The Fall Festival in the Japanese Gardens will be Saturday Nov 1 and Sunday Nov 2 from 9am to 5pm.

Please volunteer to share your knowledge of Japanese culture

We’ll be glad to sign forms for students looking to fulfill their community service requirements.

You may sign up for as many shifts as you like and are 4 hours long. All volunteers will get free entry to the gardens. We do ask that if you sign up for the whole day, to take a break between shifts to visit the rest of the gardens, and/or get food. There will be several food vendors on site. You may also bring your own snacks.

Membership Time *New 2025 Prices

Our Mission

私たちの使命

To foster understanding between Japanese and Americans by providing an opportunity to learn about Japan, its people, language, and culture.

Our History

フォートワース日本人会

Since its founding in 1985 the FWJS has a diverse membership of more than 300 members, including Japanese ex-patriots, Japanese-Americans, and Americans who are interested in Japan.

In 1985, the City of Fort Worth passed a mission to introduce its citizens to the culture and habits of countries around the world. They decided to begin with Japan by working with the City of Dallas in the Sun and Star Festival. Fort Worth Mayor Bob Bolen asked Elaine Yamagata if she would work with a special committee that collaborated with local cultural groups, companies, and schools to plan an event introducing Japanese culture.

FWJS Programs

The Society maintains a close relationship with and acts as a liaison with the Japanese Consulate for the benefit of our members. We are continually on the lookout for projects which will improve Japanese-American relations.

North Texas Giving Day

September is officially NTX Giving Day season but you can still donate at any time. Last year, the generosity of our community helped raise a record breaking $66 million in support of North Texas nonprofits! Every year, this event helps more than 3,300 nonprofits continue their work to make our community a healthier, happier, and safer place to live and thrive.

It's not unusual to find one of our members at city hall interpreting for visiting Japanese dignitaries.
