2023 Events

Happy New Year!

This list is meant to be a quick glance at everything we have planned for the year. We will publish more posts with more details about each event as each one approaches.

Keep in mind that this list is also not an exhaustive schedule of events that we will be participating in as a community. The Donodoko Taiko group, ikebana and cooking clubs will all also have their own events and meetings, so make sure to check out social media to keep up to date with everything we will be up to this year.

January 8th at 12:30 pm - Oshogatsu Luncheon. This event is potluck, so feel free to bring anything you want to make and transport to the luncheon. It by no means has to be Japanese food, please feel free to bring anything.

February 19th - Sestubun. We will be serving oden and takigomi, with a small presentation about the relationship between oden and Setsubun. Small bags of beans will be available for throwing.

March 19th - Girls’ Day. This event is kid/family-oriented. There will be tables for coloring and origami and girls are encouraged to wear kimonos. Temarizushi and suimono will be served.

May 21st - Boys’ Day. This event is also kid/family-oriented. There will be koi fish lanterns, coloring, and origami. Obentos will be served.
